The Hartford County incident happened around 11 p.m., Wednesday, March 16 in the borough of Unionville, located in the Town of Farmington.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found Jorge Tejada Camacho, age 32, lying in bed with multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to St. Francis Hospital where he was pronounced dead, McKenzie said, said Lt. Tim McKenzie, of the Farmington Police.
He was allegedly shot by 24-year-old Deondre Linder, also of Unionville.
Linder is the brother of the victim's fiancé, and lived at the Unionville home, said WTNH News 8 reported.
Police said two children at home at the time were not injured.
After the shooting, Linder fled in the victim's car. The vehicle description was broadcast over the radio, and a Farmington Police officer located the Linder driving east on Route 4, McKenzie said.
The car entered I-84 westbound, where Farmington officers were able to forcibly stop the vehicle, he added.
Linder has been charged with:
- Murder
- Criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
- Risk of injury to a child
- Reckless endangerment.
He is being held on a $1 million bond.
